Our Vision and Mission

Vision:

Empowering the Next Generation Ltd. envisions a future where every youth — regardless of race, gender identity, immigration status, or socio-economic background — has the opportunity to thrive. We aspire to build inclusive and trauma-informed communities where poverty, homelessness, systemic racism, and mental health stigma are dismantled. In this future, young people are equipped with leadership tools, surrounded by culturally responsive supports, and empowered to lead change within their own communities.

Mission:

Our mission is to serve, support, and uplift marginalized and under-resourced youth — especially those from racialized, newcomer, Indigenous, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities — by providing healing-centered programs that promote stability, wellness, and leadership. Through innovative initiatives like cow-hugging therapy, the S.W.O.L.E. leadership model, and youth-led outreach, we guide young people on a path from crisis to confidence. Our goal is to create the conditions for long-term success and generational transformation.

Our Approach:

We understand that youth face overlapping challenges — from mental health crises to housing instability and racial discrimination. That’s why our programs are designed using a GBA+ (Gender-Based Analysis Plus) and trauma-informed lens, with services tailored to meet the needs of those facing the greatest barriers.

We prioritize transparency, equity, and impact, and maintain accountability through evidence-based evaluations and inclusive community engagement.

Our programming includes:

  • Youth residential stabilization and wellness care

  • S.W.O.L.E. leadership development workshops

  • Mental health coaching and animal-assisted therapy

  • Employment readiness and newcomer integration support

  • Advocacy training and system navigation coaching for families and service providers

At Empowering the Next Generation Ltd., we’re not just offering services — we’re cultivating healing, leadership, and systemic change for youth across Alberta.
